The Case Study Interview with Virgil Abloh™ “Post-Modern” Scholar Celia Fennell highlights her 2025 project, Burberry Bastion, which uses 3D body-scanning and design programs to support more sustainable, inclusive development practices. Working in CLO3D and related digital tools, Celia created a made-to-measure collection that demonstrates how designers can refine fit, reduce waste, and explore new silhouettes before producing a single physical sample.
Celia is a senior at North Carolina State University, where her work focuses on digital garment creation and the role technology can play in strengthening industry standards. Her case study reflects her interest in sustainability and commitment to design approaches that broaden access and improve efficiency. She believes the continued growth of 3D design programs will help brands work with greater clarity, test ideas more confidently, and introduce size ranges that better reflect their communities.
Celia advises future Scholars to begin early, establish a clear timeline, and allow space for experimentation. She encourages applicants to explore unfamiliar tools and follow ideas that spark curiosity, knowing that FSF provides structure and support throughout the process.
