FSF X LUMINOUS DIAMONDS
FSF Scholars and Alumni, we invite you to enter an exciting design competition made possible through our partnership with Luminous Diamonds, a fine jewelry brand that is committed to supporting young talent. The Luminous Diamonds Design Challenge is a competition to inspire FSF Scholars and Alumni to develop full body looks for the Luminous Woman. One winner will receive a $10,000 grant to be applied to educational expenses. The winner’s illustration will also be fully realized as a look (with product development mentoring by renowned fashion designer, Christian Siriano) and ultimately worn by supermodel, Coco Rocha. The inspiration of Luminous Diamonds brand: the inner light and strength that pushes us forward. This piece of us guides our passions and fuels our ambitions. Unlike most diamonds, Luminous Diamonds emit a stunning blue glow under ultraviolet light. This glow is a symbol of that inner light we all carry.
With the Luminous Diamonds inspiration statement in mind, you are challenged to create an illustrated apparel concept, accompanied by a written brief statement.

You must be a past scholarship recipient to apply.

The design elements of your portfolio should include:
An inspiration board (in pdf format) with reference to the Luminous Diamonds inspiration.
One (1) full-body look for the Luminous Woman, incorporating jewelry designed by Luminous Diamonds, which can be viewed here. Your one design may be shared as 4 hand-sketched illustrations or created by CAD. The full-body look should reflect the inspiration of the Luminous Diamonds brand. When sketching the jewelry, please note that while all diamonds sparkle, the larger diamonds can also emit a blue tint under UV light.
A statement of 300 words maximum that speaks to who is the Luminous Woman and how she expresses herself in fashion, as well as your understanding of the concept of inner light, and what your inner light is as a creative.
Materials, swatches, and color concepts with examples of details and trims. Include prints and patterns that coordinate with the color palette.
Any excerpts from design journals, process books, and other design development to showcase your research.
In addition to a digital portfolio, participants should also submit the following items:
One 60 second video (in vertical mp4 format) introducing yourself and your designs that include the answers to:
Who is the Luminous Woman?
How does she express herself through fashion?
What is inner light to you?
Why is your inner light important to you as a creative?

Submission Instructions and Timeline
Deadline: July 31, 2021 before 11:00 PM Eastern Standard Time. Submit your (1) digital portfolio, (2) 60 second personal video, and (3) current CV as a dropbox link to the following email address, fsfprograms@fashionscholarshipfund.org
Your submissions will be judged by a panel comprised of: supermodel Coco Rocha, FSF Executive Director Peter Arnold, Celebrity Stylist Mariel Haenn, Writer and Brand Consultant Chrissy Rutherford and Alrosa USA President Rebecca Foerster.
The winner will be announced on August 11th after a judging session on August 10th.
