alumni spotlight: Ahmrii
Ahmrii Johnson
Parsons School of Design, 2019 FSF Scholar
"Post-Modern" Scholar Ahmrii Johnson is a graduating senior at Parsons School of Design and is completing her BFA in Fashion Design: Systems and Society. She plans to reintroduce her art and design business as a full RTW label with a handcrafted Spring/ Summer capsule collection -- an evolution from the fine art prints, beauty accessories, and wearable art pieces that she produced while attending Parsons. Her studio, Ahmrii Lorraine, pays homage to her familial heritage and aligns with the mission to honor Caribbean craftsmanship and novelty design.
In addition, Ahmrii has been planning her first solo show at a gallery on the Lower East Side. Fine art has always been a seamless intersection of fashion for her, and Ahmrii will present this converging world of hers in September during New York Fashion Week.
As an FSF Scholar, she has been able to intern at Louis Vuitton for two years, build a community with the Runway of Dreams organization, co-design a capsule collection with Tommy Bahama, and expand her network with industry professionals at LVMH, G-III, and Ralph Lauren, among others. She credits FSF and its hands-on mentoring for these opportunities which will help prepare her for the industry ahead.
